In an era driven by the pursuit of individuality and premium quality, automotive interiors have evolved far beyond mere functional assemblies—they are now a tactile and visual work of art. Carrying Peugeot's highest expectations as a global model, the Peugeot 408X steals the show with its fiercely sporty and unmistakably 'French dynamic' design.

Take a closer look at the interior details of the Peugeot 408X, and you will discover that the door panels are not only highly sculptural, but also feature an exquisitely crafted multi-texture leather design. Traditionally, achieving contrasting leather grains required molding multiple separate components, wrapping them, and then assembling them. This approach is not only expensive and prone to visible panel gaps, but also vulnerable to rattling noises and peeling over time.

How can you achieve a seamless transition between distinctly different leather textures on a single continuous surface, all in one molding step? CDM-TECH’s IMG (In-Mold Graining) tooling provides the perfect answer.
To perfectly realize the vision of Peugeot’s designers, CDM-TECH employed industry-leading IMG (In-Mold Graining) technology. Through a series of rigorous manufacturing processes, we engineered high-precision production tooling. Let’s break the process down step by step:
Step 1 | Laying the Foundation: Tooling Board Models, Lamination Tools, and the Master Model
This serves as the 'cornerstone' upon which all subsequent textures are built. The smoothness and fluidity of these curved surfaces directly dictate the geometric and surface quality of the final product.

Step 4 | Stunning Demolding: The One-Shot Multi-Texture Molded Part
The moment of truth! Transformed by the IMG process, a single continuous skin is brought to life. Looking at the final molded part, the result is crystal clear: across the exact same piece of material, the geometric grain in the central zone perfectly and seamlessly integrates with the surrounding pebble grain.
The boundaries are razor-sharp and the transitions perfectly natural, completely eliminating the visible gaps and jarring seams associated with traditional assembly. This innovation not only drastically elevates the interior's sense of luxury and cohesion, but it also achieves the lowest manufacturing costs while delivering superior gap quality and exceptional acoustic performance by eliminating rattles and squeaks (NVH).

The successful delivery of the multi-texture IMG tooling for the Peugeot 408X door panels stands as yet another powerful testament to CDM-TECH's expertise in high-end automotive interior tooling. We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Yanfeng development team. Together, through the perfect synergy of design and engineering, we have created a true sensory feast for the eyes and the touch within the automotive interior space.
Driving the future, defined by premium textures. With masterful craftsmanship, CDM-TECH sculpts every inch of luxurious touch!
